Kingdom Heroes 8 launched on January 12, 2021 and received substantial post-launch support throughout its first year. The developer published a producer's letter on January 15, 2021 committing to a range of improvements including a new dueling system, a tournament feature, and ongoing balance work. True to their word, the team delivered a revamped battlefield duel system in the April 28, 2021 update, followed by the return of the "Grand Martial Tournament" in the July 1, 2021 update. The game's major content cycle concluded on September 15, 2021 with the release of version 2.0 alongside four paid DLC packs — a major expansion called "The Hibiscus Storm Clouds" (adding new factions, generals, story content, and unit types), plus character and cosmetic packs. All four DLC items listed on the store are marked as released. The September 15, 2021 update post itself stated the team "will continue to work hard" on quality improvements, but framed it as general maintenance intent rather than a specific roadmap for new content.
