Evaluation
Kona launched on March 17, 2017 after a period in Early Access. Post-launch, the developer shipped one major content addition: Kona VR, a DLC released on June 19, 2018 that brought full virtual reality support to the game. In that same post, Parabole stated that having now supported all promised platforms, their focus would shift to fixing outstanding bugs and then thinking about their "next big thing" — signaling that post-launch content development for Kona itself was wrapping up. Both DLC items in the store (the original soundtrack and the VR DLC) are released and no unreleased DLC exists. The developer's subsequent communications — including the July 2022 announcement and October 2023 release of a full sequel, Kona II: Brume — confirm that the team moved on to a new project rather than continuing to develop content for the original game. No new content for Kona has been announced or suggested since the VR DLC launched on June 19, 2018.
