Love of Magic Book 2: The War is the middle chapter of a completed trilogy. The developer, Droid Productions, declared the Love of Magic trilogy complete in a September 25, 2023 post [NEWS-6], which coincided with the release of Book 3. At that point, Book 2's core story was fully finished.
After completing the trilogy, the developer followed through on a long-promised New Game+ mode — originally teased in the same September 2023 post and in an April 2023 announcement [NEWS-7]. This NG+ update was delivered in January 2026 [NEWS-5] and officially completed in March 2025 [NEWS-4], adding new scenes, a new questline ("What Was Promised"), and engine upgrades ported from Book 3 across all three games. Subsequent hotfix patches in February 2026 [NEWS-1, NEWS-2] addressed bugs introduced by the NG+ changes, with the final hotfix (1.2.8g) released on February 13, 2026.
Crucially, the March 2025 post [NEWS-4] explicitly states: "With that done I'll be returning to Wings of Empire, my next game" — a clear signal that the developer considers their work on the Love of Magic series wrapped up and has moved on to a new project. No further content for Book 2 has been announced, and no unreleased DLC exists on the store. The game shipped as a complete standalone chapter of the trilogy and has now received its full post-launch treatment.
