Evaluation

LYNE launched on March 17, 2014 and has received occasional feature updates over the years. On August 14, 2024, developer Thomas Bowker shipped version 1.5.0 — a tenth anniversary update adding full controller support, a major overhaul of the daily puzzle mode, redesigned menus, and various improvements. In that same post, he explicitly stated: "This will almost certainly be the last update for LYNE. I'm very happy with it and I'm looking forward to finally getting onto finishing Split Signal." This is a clear developer statement that content development for LYNE is complete. A subsequent post on September 18, 2024 announced a Nintendo Switch port (matching the Steam version exactly at v1.5.0), which is consistent with wrapping up the game rather than continuing to develop it. No further updates or announcements have been made since that Switch port announcement. The store description does reference procedurally-generated daily puzzles, but this is a built-in feature of the game — not ongoing developer-delivered content — and does not indicate active development.
