纵横麻将 Matrix Mahjong

纵横麻将 Matrix Mahjong

Released Aug 2026

No Mahjong experience needed! A strategy card game focused on crafting Hu (winning hands). Easier to Hu, but takes deeper strategy. Form melds on a grid, and use items to complete Hu with multiple Faans (scoring patterns). Every game unfolds differently—adapt on the fly and play with the flow!

Evaluation

Matrix Mahjong became available on August 13, 2026, after the developer postponed the originally planned July 29 date because of an illness. The developer reported on August 6, 2026 that work had resumed. Since launch, the developer has shipped a quick series of updates: new scoring patterns (Odd Hand and Even Hand) on August 28, 2026, controller support and a Mac beta on September 1, 2026, and a 1.1.7 update with scoring, difficulty and bug fixes on September 3, 2026. The launch announcement said the developer would keep fixing bugs and improving the game based on player feedback, but no specific future content has been announced. The last developer communication was on September 3, 2026. Post-launch updates cover only a few weeks so far, which is not yet enough history to show how the game will be supported over time. A pre-launch demo update from February 24, 2026 listed planned items, an opponent system, more flexible tile interaction, sound effects, and phased content unlocking. Several of these, such as the drag-based tile controls and opponent effects, appear in later patches.

About this game

*The following text was NOT written by AI. The parallel phrasing of the headings is simply a personal preference.

Mahjong, Intersected

The same pairs, chows, and pungs you know from Mahjong—but on a 3×7 grid, they can be formed both across and down.

A tile placed at an intersection becomes part of two patterns at once

Winning Hand (Hu), Redefined

Forget “four melds and a pair.” As long as every tile in your hand forms part of a valid meld, you win.

Newcomers only need to learn three basic melds to understand the game.

Experienced Mahjong players, meanwhile, will discover an entirely new way to think about waits and ready hands.

Faans, Reimagined

With winning redefined, the Faans you know have gained entirely new possibilities.

For example, 【All Honors】 no longer has to consist of four pungs and a pair.

【Four Identical Chows】? Come try 【Six Identical Chows】!

Small Wins, Long Runs

Wait for a monster hand every game? Here, you may not have the time. Your available turns are tied to your HP.

Rather than going big every round, a quick win with a small Faan—and knowing when to stop—can sometimes take you much farther.

A Bit Of Roguelike, But More Of Mahjong

Freely edit the tile deck, force a specific build, and chase exponential scoring? None of that is the point of this game.

Every round asks you to weigh your options on the spot and judge which tiles may still come. Items can help, but you must still find the answer within your opening hand.

Adapt to the situation and play with the flow. Isn’t that the essence of Mahjong?

【Pixels, Chinese Flair】

Handcrafted pixel and voxel Mahjong tiles. Hover over them, pick them up, and place them down —every action comes with smooth, responsive feedback.

Your items range from everyday folk objects to mythical treasures. Your opponents are legendary figures and a whole host of deities. Behind every effect, there may be a meaning waiting to be discovered.

Immerse yourself in the pleasure of crafting Mahjong hands, presented in a bright and clean art style.
