Maximum Football launched on Steam Early Access on November 7, 2024 as a free-to-play football simulation, then graduated to its full 1.0 release on June 17, 2025. At launch, the developer made clear that "1.0 is a major milestone — but it's far from the finish line," signaling ongoing content development from the start. Since 1.0, the game has received a steady stream of content through a recurring seasonal model. Season 4: Hard Hitting 80s launched in September 2025, Franchise Mode (a major new game pillar) launched on December 9, 2025, and Season 5: Holiday Blitz followed a week later. Each season features a tiered progression pass with cosmetic rewards — the hallmark of a live-service game designed to receive content indefinitely. In February 2026, the developer announced a new development partnership with Open Ocean Games to "lead development in 2026," explicitly describing it as "the first in a series of exciting releases we have planned for the rest of the year." This was followed by Pre-Season 6: Training Camp in March 2026, and MPL 2.0 — a complete overhaul of the competitive online mode — announced in May 2026, with "Summer Evolution" and further updates described as coming that summer. A hotfix as recently as May 18, 2026 added new features and quality-of-life improvements. This game is actively designed around ongoing seasonal content cycles and recurring updates. The developer shows no signs of winding down — quite the opposite, with a new studio partnership and explicitly stated plans for continued releases throughout 2026.
