Nasty Zombies launched on April 4, 2024 and has been actively developed by its solo developer (Con No 1) ever since. Across roughly 28 months, the game has received 13 major content updates, establishing one of the most consistent and frequent update cadences seen in an indie title — multiple major updates per month as of mid-2026. On May 23, 2026, the developer posted a direct update confirming they had finished their final year of university and could now focus on Nasty Zombies full-time "for the foreseeable future." That commitment was followed immediately by action: v6.0 (Invocations) on June 11, 2026 — described as the biggest update ever — added an entirely new ability system, overhauled two maps, introduced four new guns, a new zombie type, and sweeping balance and UI changes. This was followed in rapid succession by v6.3 (Grounded archetype, July 15), v6.4 (M2 Browning, July 26), v6.5 (93R pistol and recoil overhaul, August 3), v6.6 (Combo Meter, August 6), and a refinement patch v6.6c on August 8, 2026 — just six days before today. The developer has not made any statement indicating development is winding down. The pace of updates has actually accelerated since the developer finished university. A Theatre map was previously referenced as a planned future addition, and the developer's May 2026 post explicitly said the foundation overhaul in v6.0 was done specifically to make "producing future content much faster."

The dead have arisen in endless waves. Step into the robes of a Hollow Monk, an ethereal warrior of unknown origin, driven by a singular, relentless purpose: to eradicate the Nasty Zombies.

Fight solo or with up to 8 players, uncover hidden secrets, and unlock over 100 achievements. Master intuitive melee combat and a diverse arsenal of firearms, then enhance your abilities by unlocking Blessings, Miracles, & Invocations between runs.

Once you've unlocked everything, Prestige to prove your mastery. Each Prestige level increases the number of Blessings you can equip at once, letting you create even deadlier loadouts. Climb the Leaderboards, competing for Highest Wave, Fastest Speedruns, and Top Prestige ranks.
