New York Rat Simulator

New York Rat Simulator entered Early Access on November 13, 2021. The developer shipped one major update — the Winter Update on January 25, 2022 — which brought a new map, overhauled systems, and a new rat model. At the time, the developer promised a second part of the overhaul later that year, along with additional features like a New York deity and new enemy types. However, by August 29, 2022, Firebug Games disclosed significant production problems: a file corruption had destroyed their city level, a contractor brought in to rebuild it had unexpectedly left, and the studio was struggling financially to find a replacement level designer. All planned updates were placed on hold as a result. On November 2, 2022, the studio posted a brief teaser indicating that a new update was "coming very soon," showing what appeared to be a rebuilt city. That update never arrived. There has been no developer communication of any kind since that November 2022 post — no patch notes, no devlogs, no status updates. The game remains in Early Access with outstanding promises that have not been fulfilled. The combination of disclosed production difficulties and over three years of complete silence raises serious questions about whether development is still ongoing.
