Nex Machina launched on June 20, 2017 as a complete arcade twin-stick shooter. Following launch, Housemarque issued a series of patches through the end of 2017 addressing gameplay balancing, bug fixes, crash issues, and small content additions like new arena challenges and language support. The last game update was a bug fix patch on December 4, 2017. The most recent developer communication of any kind was a January 15, 2018 post announcing recruitment of testers for an entirely separate, unannounced project — confirming that Housemarque's development focus had moved on from Nex Machina. No DLC was ever released or announced for the game, no roadmap or future content was promised, and no further posts about Nex Machina have appeared since early 2018. The game launched as a self-contained product and has been complete since its final patch in December 2017.
