Nocturnals is a short, self-contained choose-your-own-adventure game that launched on September 13, 2024. After release, the developer shipped several localization and bug-fix patches and released a soundtrack DLC on November 3, 2024. No further content for the base game has been announced or shipped since that date. The developer has announced and is actively working on a sequel — Nocturnals: Cacti Coast — which has its own separate Steam store page and received a reveal trailer on July 22, 2025. On September 12, 2025 (the game's one-year anniversary), the developer confirmed ongoing work on Cacti Coast and teased upcoming screenshots. Nocturnals: Cacti Coast is a separately sold product, not DLC or an update to this game. As of the one-year anniversary post on September 12, 2025, there is no mention of any additional content, updates, or DLC planned for the original Nocturnals. The original game is content-complete. The sequel being in development does not affect the completion status of this title.

About this game

This game was created as my version of a love letter to my partner.

Follow the story of Ted as he navigates the abandoned town of Ruddleside amidst the post apocalypse, finding a solitary companion in Diego.

Your choices determine whether Diego will bond with Ted and help him continue his search for surviving communities, or whether the pair will face difficulties and challenges that put them at odds with each other whilst trying to escape the horrors within Ruddleside.

Gameplay:

Explore Stylized 3D Environments: Navigate the atmospheric setting of Ruddleside.
Solve Puzzles and Find Collectibles: Uncover the town's mysteries through various puzzles and collectibles.
Shape Ted's Destiny: Make decisions that influence Ted's personality and determine his fate.
