Ocean Is Home: Island Life Simulator entered Steam Early Access on December 9, 2022. From launch through June 2023, BirdyDog Studio was very active — publishing weekly or near-weekly updates, feature patches, and development news posts. The studio shipped multiple notable updates during this period, including a significant graphics and rendering overhaul in Big Update 0.8 on June 14, 2023. Prior posts announced ambitious plans still in progress: multiplayer support, new islands added to the game map, expanded building systems with new parts, first- and third-person character views, and a full car physics engine upgrade. However, June 14, 2023 marks the last official communication from the developer. As of June 21, 2026 — more than three years later — there have been no further news posts, patch notes, or announcements of any kind. This represents a dramatic break from the studio's previously consistent communication and update rhythm. The features announced before the silence (multiplayer, new islands, etc.) have not been confirmed as delivered, and no explanation has been given for the halt in activity. The game remains in Early Access and is still purchasable on Steam, but there is no evidence that development is continuing.
