Evaluation

Ôpe is a free-to-play 3D platformer developed in 15 weeks by students at Campus ADN, a video game college in Montreal. It released on November 29, 2019 and received a handful of post-launch patches addressing bugs and adding English localization. In a February 13, 2020 update post, the development team explicitly stated: "This update is one of the last we will make... devs will also stop to answer soon. You can expect all of these services to stop in the following months as we all need to move on and to find a job." This is a clear, direct statement from the team that development of Ôpe was winding down — a natural outcome given it was a student project with a fixed production period. The news channel for the Campus ADN publisher account has since been used to promote a new student game, Curyeux, which launched in July 2025. This is consistent with how the school operates: each year's class produces a new game. There are no unreleased DLC items, no roadmaps, and no outstanding content commitments for Ôpe. The game launched as a complete, self-contained experience and the team confirmed they were done.
Evidence
Development team explicitly stated 'This update is one of the last we will make' and that developers would stop answering and all services would cease 'in the following months' as the student team moves on to find jobs.

Details

Ôpe is a 3D platforming game in which you play as a little hero named Bô. His quest will lead him through enchanted forest and temples where he’ll need to deliver shamans from corruption before the sun sets forever.

Environments

This game has 10 playable levels in which you’ll discover forest and temple environments. Forets are more 3D-platforming-oriented and the temples are puzzle-oriented.

Skills

Throughout the adventure, you’ll learn many skills to help you during your quest such as dashing through walls, push rocks, double-jump and even transform your character in a little sphere to access new opportunities.

Production

This original title was developed in 15 weeks by the class of 2018-2019 of Campus ADN, a public video game college in downtown Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The students worked in two teams to make the games Blank and Ôpe. Each game was created by about 30 students in total from Animation, Level Design and Modeling programs during their third semester under the supervision of professionals from the industry.
