Evaluation
Osmos launched on August 18, 2009 as a complete, self-contained game with 47 levels plus bonus content. The developer's post-launch activity consisted of early maintenance patches (versions 1.5.8 in September 2009 and 1.6.0 in January 2010) adding quality-of-life features like language translations and control improvements, followed by a decade of silence. The only subsequent communication was a December 9, 2019 technical compatibility update for Mac — the developer's own note describes it as "just a technical update." There has been no developer communication since December 2019, no DLC was ever released or announced, and no future content has ever been indicated. The store description has remained unchanged, describing a fixed 47-level experience. Osmos shipped as a finished product in 2009 and has never been positioned as a game receiving ongoing content.
