Outside the Blocks launched on November 4, 2025 as a solo developer project. At launch, the developer explicitly stated that development was not ending, noting several smaller additions that didn't make it in before launch and teasing bigger updates to come. Since launch, the game has received consistent and frequent updates. A notable major update on May 30, 2026 (Patch 1.4) added full localization into 16 languages and an engine upgrade — a significant undertaking that the developer described as something they'd been working on for a long time. In that same post, the developer announced plans to "return to working on new content," hinting at the ability to change building kits beyond the current medieval style: "After all, how long can you keep building medieval houses, right?" This signals that new content styles are actively being planned. The developer also added NVIDIA GeForce NOW cloud streaming support on June 8, 2026, and posted a bug fix patch as recently as June 13, 2026. This is a developer who is actively engaged with the game and has clearly communicated that new content — specifically new building kits — is on the horizon, even if specific release dates haven't been announced. Before launch, the developer stated that the game is designed to support additional "Kits" (different architectural styles), and possibly modding and Steam Workshop support in the future. These remain aspirational but reinforce the developer's long-term intentions for the game.
