Panther VR

Panther VR launched on Steam Early Access on June 16, 2020 as a VR stealth game developed by a very small team at Wolfdog Interactive. The game received several significant updates over the years — a full interaction rework (patch 0.1.1, March 2021), a security and AI overhaul (patch 0.1.2, October 2021), and a long-running series of dev blogs previewing a planned 0.1.3 Progression update featuring new weapons, a progression system, and more content. That progression update was never released. On April 28, 2023, the sole developer posted a detailed and deeply personal announcement explaining that Wolfdog Interactive was closing down. Funding had been depleted, the VR market had stagnated, and the financial and emotional toll of continuing development had become unsustainable. The post explicitly states: "The closure of the studio also marks the end of my time as a developer. Unfortunately, this also ends the professional development of Panther VR." The developer did leave open a faint possibility of returning to the project informally at some point, but no such return has materialized. Since that April 28, 2023 post, there have been no further developer communications of any kind. The game remains listed on Steam in its Early Access state, still bearing the "Early Access" label with no path to a 1.0 release. The 0.1.3 update that was extensively documented and previewed in dev blogs throughout 2022 was never delivered. The game is effectively abandoned in an unfinished state, with the developer having confirmed the end of professional development and gone completely silent for over three years as of June 27, 2026.
