Evaluation
Passpartout: The Starving Artist launched on June 6, 2017 and received a handful of post-launch patches that added new features — most notably Patch 1.2.0 on August 8, 2017, which introduced landscape painting (canvas flip) and an Endless mode. After that, the game received only maintenance and compatibility updates: engine upgrades in October and December 2020, a Linux fix in February 2021, and a Mac 32-bit deprecation notice in January 2024. The sole DLC — the original soundtrack — shipped on launch day.
The developer's attention shifted entirely to a sequel, Passpartout 2: The Lost Artist, which launched on April 4, 2023 after over two years of development. The original game has received no new features or content since August 2017, and the developer has made no announcements of any future content for it. The game launched as a self-contained experience and is considered complete.
Evidence
Patch 1.2.0 added landscape paintings and Endless mode — the last feature-level update to the original game.
Passpartout officially released on June 6, 2017.
