Path of the Midnight Sun

Path of the Midnight Sun launched on January 10, 2023 and received consistent post-launch updates, including two major content patches: the Anniversary Update (v2.0) on January 11, 2024, and a further major update (v2.5) on June 10, 2024, both adding new scenes, content, and quality-of-life improvements. On January 10, 2026 — the game's 3rd anniversary — the Game Director Alfred posted a clear and direct statement about the game's future: "If you're wondering whether there will be a new content update... I don't think that will happen." He cited the abandoned and discontinued Visual Novel Maker engine as making further development extremely difficult, expressed his desire to focus on new projects, and stated his belief that the game is already complete and in a great state. This is a definitive developer communication that content development for the game has concluded. Earlier posts (notably the June 2024 v2.5 update) had mentioned a possible "Version 3.0" with New Game+, Steam Overlay, and Achievements, but the January 2026 statement supersedes that — Alfred explicitly walked back those plans. The March 2025 studio update similarly confirmed all development focus had shifted to the new game, Food Devils. Both released DLC items (the Original Soundtrack and the Official Artbook) shipped in early 2023 and no unreleased DLC exists on the store. The game is complete.
