Phasmophobia has been in Early Access since September 18, 2020 and remains there today — the Steam Early Access flag is still active, and the developer has explicitly stated that Phasmophobia 1.0 (the full release) is targeting the second half of 2027. Kinetic Games has been highly active throughout 2026. Major content shipped this year includes: the 6 Tanglewood Drive map rework (March 3, 2026), the annual Cursed Hollow springtime event (March 31, 2026), a crossover event with Alan Wake (May 12, 2026), the 13 Willow Street rework plus Quality of Life update #1 (July 21, 2026), and Quality of Life update #2 (August 25, 2026). Nell's Diner, a brand new map, launched November 11, 2025. The most recent developer communication, dated September 10, 2026, is a patch notes post (v0.19.0.1) that confirms the Unity 6 engine upgrade has shifted slightly to November 2026 (from the originally planned October), that a cosmetics update is also coming in November, and that the Crimson Eye seasonal event is still on track for October 2026. The developer also promises a forthcoming Development Preview covering both the Unity 6 and cosmetics updates in more detail. Earlier on June 24, 2026, Kinetic Games published a detailed "2026 and Beyond" roadmap post confirming the 1.0 release — which includes a horror rework, lore update, new ghost models, a new Conduits system, and a new map — has been moved to the second half of 2027. A Nintendo Switch 2 launch is planned at the same time. The developer acknowledged this delay openly and committed to more transparent communication heading into 2027, including regular development streams and previews. This is a studio actively executing a published plan with multiple confirmed deliverables still ahead before the game reaches its full release.

About this game

Phasmophobia is a 4-player, online co-op, psychological horror game. You and your team of paranormal investigators will enter haunted locations filled with paranormal activity and try to gather as much evidence as you can. Use your ghost-hunting equipment to gather paranormal evidence... Before you become part of the haunting yourself.

Immersive Experience: Realistic graphics and sounds as well as a minimal user interface ensure a totally immersive experience that will keep you on your toes.
Unique Ghosts: Identify over 20 different ghost types, each with unique traits, personalities, and abilities to make each investigation feel different from the last.
Equipment: Use well-known ghost-hunting equipment such as EMF Readers, Spirit Boxes, Thermometers, and Night Vision Cameras to find clues and gather as much paranormal evidence as you can. Find Cursed Possessions that grant information or abilities in exchange for your sanity.

Full Voice Recognition: The Ghosts are listening! Use your actual voice to interact with the Ghosts through Ouija Boards and EVP Sessions using a Spirit Box.

Locations: Choose from over 10 different haunted locations, each with unique twists, hiding spots, and layouts.
Game Modes: With 5 default difficulties and hand crafted weekly challenges, there are plenty of ways to test your skills.
Teamwork: Dive in head first, get your hands dirty searching for evidence while fighting for your life. If you're not feeling up to the task, play it safe and support your team from the truck by monitoring the investigation with CCTV and motion sensors.
