Pinecone Game launched on December 30, 2021 and has now reached the end of its content lifecycle. On April 8, 2025, the developer released what they explicitly called "The Final Update," and three days later, on April 11, 2025, they confirmed in a dedicated announcement post that there will be no more content updates for the original game — only bug fix patches if issues are discovered. This is a clear, direct statement from the developer that content development for Pinecone Game is complete.
The April 11, 2025 post also revealed that the developer has moved on to a sequel, Pinecone Game: Albion, which is in early development. This further confirms that the original game's content chapter is closed.
The developer continues to maintain the game with occasional bug fixes — most recently on June 15, 2026 — consistent with their promise to keep the game working. Both DLC items (a Soundtrack released August 24, 2022, and a Supporter Pack released March 21, 2023) have shipped. The Supporter Pack was introduced as part of a studio-wide move to make all their games free-to-play, with the paid DLC serving purely as an optional way to support the team.

- Throw pinecones into the well - just pick up a pinecone and throw it into the well in the middle of your flying island. The new pine cone will be available in 24 hours.
- Take a look at the leaderboard - find out how many pinecones your friends and other players from all over the world have thrown into the well.
- Sit down and rest - while waiting for a new pinecone, you can sit on a specially equipped bench and relax, contemplating the surrounding nature.
