Evaluation

Planes, Bullets and Vodka launched on December 13, 2016 as a small, self-contained arcade score-chaser. The developer explicitly describes it as "a small, re-playable game" with objectives centered on beating scores, climbing leaderboards, and earning achievements — not an evolving content experience. The game received a soundtrack DLC on January 2, 2017 and a substantial feature update on September 5, 2017 (version 1.0.4) that added leaderboards, a new in-game item, tutorial improvements, and additional language support. A further localization update arrived on January 3, 2024, adding 15 new languages and some polish. Since that 2024 patch, there has been no communication about any further updates to Planes, Bullets and Vodka itself. The developer's attention has shifted almost entirely to a separate project called Burning Skies, a larger roguelite bullet hell game currently in development toward Early Access. A spin-off called Burning Skies Arcade was briefly released as a free companion experience but was retired on April 27, 2026, per a developer statement citing the difficulty of supporting two versions simultaneously. None of the recent developer activity indicates any new content is planned for Planes, Bullets and Vodka. The game launched as a finished product, received incremental improvements over its early years, and has settled into a complete state with no outstanding commitments.
Evidence
Version 1.0.4 update added leaderboards, a new Vodka item, tutorial, joystick vibration, and German language support — the last substantial content addition to the game.
