Evaluation

Plankton launched on October 27, 2016, and the developer was actively posting updates through early 2017. In the months after launch, several feature patches added new content: Steam achievements and a new chapter (November 12, 2016), container purchases and animated lamps (December 2, 2016), additional light devices (December 14, 2016), a Mac version (December 16, 2016), and a new container with a moving sprite (February 4, 2017). The last of these patches, on February 4, 2017, is the final update on record. Shortly after, on September 15, 2017, the developer announced they had published a new game called "Jellyfish," describing it as a potential "Plankton 2." This signals the developer had moved on to a follow-up project rather than continuing to develop Plankton. The store description does mention an intent to add more content "as an idle game with art style," but this language has not been accompanied by any actual updates since February 2017 — well over nine years ago as of June 2026. No roadmap, DLC, or further posts have appeared since then. The game appears to have reached its final state around the time the developer shifted focus to Jellyfish.
Evidence
Developer announced a new game 'Jellyfish,' describing it as a potential Plankton 2, signaling a shift away from Plankton.

About this game

For many years naturalists have been portraying the natural world, and now we can create a self-contained biological world.
The organisms(style and movement) are generated by particular mathematical(trigonometric functions) codes, all based on points.
This could be a new form of art.

Living in a drop of water.
Flowing on the surface.
I am no one.
My galaxy in one drop.
Life is so simple.
But full of mystery.

Note: For best experience, play this game in a dark room, alone.
I am adding more contents as an idle game with art style, just like some virtual installation artwork.
