POSTAL is the original 1997 isometric shooter by Running With Scissors, re-released on Steam and updated over the years. The most substantive post-launch work was a community-driven 20th Anniversary update on November 15, 2017, which added mouse controls, previously Japan-exclusive levels, Japanese audio, restored multiplayer modes, and more. This update was carried out by volunteer developers working from the game's source code, which Running With Scissors had released publicly in December 2016 — a clear signal that the studio was handing ongoing stewardship of this specific title to the community rather than continuing internal development. Since that November 2017 update, there has been no new content for the original POSTAL game.
