Prehistoric Hunt

Prehistoric Hunt has been in Early Access since December 2020 and remains there — the developer has never announced a 1.0 release or declared the game complete. Development is clearly ongoing and accelerating. The previous evaluation (June 2026) noted that the vehicle system and new Rengarua map were in open testing. That content has now shipped: on September 11, 2026 — just one day before today's assessment — the massive Rengarua Update (0.130) went live. It delivered the game's third official hunting map (a large desert/swamp island), five new dinosaur species (Diplodocus, Dilophosaurus, Styracosaurus, Velociraptor, and Oryctodromeus), the fully implemented vehicle system, major dinosaur AI and animation overhauls, and numerous other gameplay improvements. Crucially, the developer closed the Rengarua announcement by explicitly committing to further work: "We'll continue developing Rengarua and expanding Prehistoric Hunt with more content and improvements in upcoming updates." Earlier in March 2026, the skills system was introduced with a note that it "will expand in future updates with additional skills." In November 2025, the developer stated the game is "far from done" with "many new updates already in development." The sustained update pattern across Early Access is strong: major content drops arrived in December 2025 (aquatic Mosasaurus hunting), September 2025 (Erythristic skins update), and now September 2026 (Rengarua), alongside a steady stream of feature patches and bug fixes throughout. This is an actively and ambitiously developed Early Access title with more content explicitly promised.
