The game originated as a game jam entry (GMTKJam 2020) that was expanded into a commercial release — the Steam version was explicitly described as the "new version" featuring an additional level and Steam achievements, framing it as a complete, finished product from the start. The only post-launch communication was a small bug fix patch on March 18, 2021, which addressed save progress and an achievement trigger issue. The developer's subsequent news post on June 6, 2024 announced an entirely separate game, Nautical Survival, with no mention of any additional content planned for Press Ctrl.
