Primal Planet is a solo-developed metroidvania that launched on July 28, 2025. Following release, the developer (Albert van Zyl, aka Seethingswarm) shipped a series of updates over the first month: a bug fix patch on August 3, a feature update adding dolphin riding and map improvements on August 13, and then a significant content update on August 28 that added an entirely new area — the Alien Moon Base — along with new enemies, a new boss, and an extended ending. A final optimization patch followed on September 18, 2025. The August 28 update explicitly described itself as adding "a bit more to the late-game" with new content for players who had already finished the game, and extended the ending. The developer framed Update #3 as adding lore and late-game content, not as a stepping stone to further announced content. After the September 18 optimization patch, there have been no further developer communications, no announced upcoming content, no unreleased DLC, and no roadmap pointing to future updates. The game has only a single DLC listed — the Original Soundtrack, which released on launch day. No season passes, expansion passes, or unshipped DLC exist on the store. The developer's post-launch communications have been responsive and iterative, addressing player feedback, but the last post (September 18, 2025) did not announce or hint at any further content. The post-launch update pattern — three substantive updates in the first two months — appears to have been a focused post-launch support window rather than an ongoing content cadence. Based on the evidence, the game launched as a complete experience, received a meaningful content extension through the Alien Moon Base update on August 28, 2025, and then received a final optimization pass. The developer has not announced any further content, and the game appears to be complete as of the August 28 content update.
