Evaluation

Progress Bar Simulator launched on April 4, 2019 and has received a steady stream of free content updates and two DLC releases since then. Major free updates arrived in May 2020 (alongside the H.O.R.S.E. 1st DLC), August 2020, and November 2020, with feature patches in October 2019, March 2022, and December 2023. The most recent update, posted December 4, 2024, launched a new streamer-themed DLC (HergornTV) alongside additional game features. Importantly, that same post noted the developer is now focused on a brand-new game called Light Switch Simulator, and no future content or roadmap for Progress Bar Simulator was mentioned. Both DLC entries in the store are released with no unreleased items listed. The developer has not communicated any plans for further updates to Progress Bar Simulator, and the December 2024 post reads as a final send-off for the game. The historical cadence of major updates (roughly every few months through 2020, then sporadic patches) has now stretched past 18 months since that last post with no new communication, consistent with the game having reached the end of its content cycle.
Evidence
Developer released the HergornTV DLC and a feature update, mentioned removal of a broken YouTube feature, extended Steam Deck support, and announced they are working on a new game (Light Switch Simulator). No future content for Progress Bar Simulator was mentioned.

Intro

Progress, the final frontier. Since everything progresses, but not as fast or slow as YOU want it to, you can take full control of progress in this game.
Made with (mostly) historically correct Progress Bars from the history of computers.

Gameplay Singleplayer

Use any key on your keyboard (or mouse) that you might associate with “right/up” for progression and the “left/down” direction for regress.

normal

idle
Modern computers are often way too fast to fully enjoy the beauty of Progres Bars. You can finally watch as many Progres Bars as you want, in their pace. Slow and smooth.

RUN BAR
In case your modern life is NOT fast enough, why not try speed-running and Improving every playthrough?

Gameplay Multiplayer

Can you beat your friends? ALL of them? AT THE SAME TIME?
Go against your friends and challenge them in a game of keyboard destruction to find out who can press faster space or backspace.

Twitch
Play with or against your audience on Twitch, just set the channel name in the “Options” menu.
Any chat message with a + in it will make progress and every message with a - in it will make a regress.
Every message has only one action.
Streamer VS audience, who will win?

What other players Say:

But don’t trust my words alone, this is what other player have to say:

  • “I am speechless.”
  • “We played it straight for an hour against each other.”
  • “This is totally awesome!”
  • “This is how I imagine the next ransomware will be.”
  • “I have absolutely no clue what you are trying to make here.”
  • “I am highly underwhelmed.”
  • “This must be interrogation software used by the CIA to destroy ppl’s minds.”
