Project Kat is a short, unconventional RPG horror game in which there is always another way. Solve puzzles, make friends (or not), and guide Kat as she attempts to uncover the mystery behind a strange golden letter.
Project Kat - Paper Lily Prologue is a free, standalone short RPG horror game that serves as the prologue to the larger Paper Lily series. It launched on October 15, 2021 and has always been positioned as a complete, self-contained story — the store description explicitly describes it as "a standalone story that can be enjoyed on its own."
The game's post-launch updates have been maintenance and quality-of-life focused: engine upgrades, translation additions, and bug fixes. The one released DLC is a Supporter Pack (released February 17, 2023), which is cosmetic/support content rather than story content.
The most significant development for this title was the release of Paper Lily Chapter 1 — the full sequel game — on January 26, 2024. This was announced as the continuation of the story, and its release fulfilled the outstanding promise of a "Chapter 1" that had been referenced in developer posts since November 2021. Alongside that launch, Project Kat received a compatibility update (engine sync with Paper Lily). The last developer post for this game was a minor bug fix on March 22, 2024.
Because Project Kat was designed and shipped as a complete, standalone prologue experience, and the follow-on content it was building toward (Paper Lily Chapter 1) has now launched as a separate game, this title's content is effectively complete. There are no unreleased DLC entries, no outstanding developer commitments to this specific game, and no announced future updates.
Evidence
Developer announced Paper Lily Chapter 1 launched as a separate game, fulfilling the long-promised sequel. Project Kat received a compatibility patch alongside it.
