Evaluation
PULSAR: Lost Colony launched out of Early Access on June 22, 2021. At that time, the developer stated the main experience was complete but that post-release content and updates were planned. The game went on to receive two major post-launch content updates: v1.1 on July 26, 2021 (a new ship and localization tools), and v1.2 on July 22, 2022 (the "Depths of Umbra-K54" bonus campaign featuring a new ship, enemies, and bosses). These two major updates came roughly a year apart.
After July 2022, there have been no further major content releases — only feature patches and bug fixes. A notable developer communication on August 19, 2024 (v1.2.05 patch notes) explicitly stated the team had been "hard at work developing new projects" and was transitioning to Unreal Engine 5, signaling their creative focus has shifted away from PULSAR. The most recent update, v1.2.10 on January 6, 2026, was a minor bug fix with no mention of future content.
There are no unreleased DLC listings, no announced roadmap items, and no developer statements indicating further content for PULSAR is in development. The two-year silence on major content, combined with the developer's explicit statement that they are focused on new projects, points clearly to the game's content cycle being concluded. The last major content drop — the Depths of Umbra-K54 campaign on July 22, 2022 — is the most reasonable date at which the game became content-complete.
Evidence
Developer explicitly states they have been focused on 'developing new projects' and transitioning to Unreal Engine 5, with a prototype game jam title (Gorble) already published as a separate product.
v1.2 launched with a full new bonus campaign (Depths of Umbra-K54), a new submersible ship, new enemies, and boss encounters — the last major content release for the game.

About this game
Team up to operate a starship and explore a randomized galaxy falling into chaos. Each player assumes a role aboard the ship: Captain, Pilot, Scientist, Weapons Specialist and Engineer. Coordination between your crewmembers is essential to survive the perils that await you.
Control the various stations that run your ship. Reroute power between ship systems, operate turrets, run powerful programs, scan enemy vessels for information to give you an edge in battle, or start up the warp drive to escape a fight you cannot win. The strategies you use are up to you—or your Captain.
Embark on missions, investigate abandoned stations, and scavenge for components that could aid you in your voyage. Teleport down to the surfaces of planets where you may face extreme environments and dangerous creatures. Trek across the galaxy, and discover what lies on its fringes.

The Captain
Nearly every major decision of a voyage falls into the Captain’s hands. With clear communication and resolve, the Captain must be the link that coordinates the actions of the entire crew. As the Captain determines the route the crew will take—through both the galaxy itself and the hard choices they encounter—success is more often than not a reflection of his or her leadership. The Pilot
The Pilot is responsible for flying the ship and navigating across sectors of space. Through management of different flight controls, a Pilot must maneuver the ship through debris, position it effectively during combat, and align it to the next sector for warp. Despite various flight styles in the field, most Pilots become one with their ships and make them extensions of themselves. The Scientist
Scientists provide the crew with medical assistance and information about their current environment. As they possess superior technological prowess, Scientists have the responsibility of overseeing sensor sweeps, ship security, the breaching of enemy firewalls, and research. Furthermore, their skills are invaluable when developing strategies or exploring alien planets. The Weapons Specialist
Guns, turrets, nukes—the Weapons Specialist manages them all. Operating lasers, missiles and any other combat related technologies, Weapons Specialists have the greatest direct impact in battle, and their aim can greatly sway the outcome of a fight. Apart from ship-to-ship combat, Weapons Specialists are also crucial in ship boarding and investigations of hostile environments. The Engineer
The Engineer keeps the ship running. In addition to charging the warp drive and manning the startup switchboard, Engineers must continually maintain and repair vital ship systems, as well as control ship power flow to prevent overheating. Engineers make the most out of a reactor’s capabilities and balance power allocation for the greatest possible output.Last evaluated Jun 28, 2026
