Evaluation
Queen of Treasure Isle launched into Early Access on January 20, 2025, and has been actively developed ever since. The developer (gobou) has maintained a consistent cadence of updates throughout 2025 and into 2026, with patches arriving roughly every one to two months. These updates are not just bug fixes — they include the addition of new Queen-class characters (added in the June 2025, April 2026, May 2026 updates), new power-up items, new attack patterns, new weapons like the White Flag, expanded gameplay mechanics such as dash throws, and significant balance overhauls. The most recent patch arrived on July 1, 2026, just 11 days before today's date, fixing a soft-lock bug related to the final treasure sequence. A January 2025 post also noted the developer was planning future improvements to the tutorial and menus. The game remains in Early Access and is clearly being actively worked on by the developer, with no indication that development is winding down or that a 1.0 release is imminent.

Queen of treasure isle is a simple, small-scale metroidvania that mainly consists of bomb throwing and jumping.
You can retrieve the treasure hidden in various places and return home in a balloon when you are done.
There are some strong queens waiting for you on the island, but you don't have to fight them. If you are not confident, avoid them.
