Rain World

Rain World originally launched on March 28, 2017. It received its first major expansion, Downpour, on January 19, 2023, and its second major expansion, The Watcher, on March 28, 2025. The Watcher introduced a new slugcat campaign with unique traversal mechanics, new regions, and original story content. Post-launch support for The Watcher has been active and substantive. Five days after The Watcher's launch, the developer outlined plans for additional post-release content — including final story endings and cryptic secrets — and committed to ongoing patching. On September 25, 2025, the free Watcher 1.5 update delivered on those promises, shipping new regions, creatures, endings, arena mode support, and co-op support. The developer described this as "the final chapter to The Watcher," resolving the expansion's central story arc. Support has continued beyond that milestone. A major feature patch (1.11.7) shipped on March 31, 2026, adding Safari Mode for Watcher's regions and extensive gameplay improvements across the whole game. A follow-up bug-fix patch (1.11.8) arrived on April 14, 2026, and three additional soundtrack DLC packs were released on May 7, 2026 — the most recent developer activity on record. The developer has described the story arc of The Watcher as complete, but has made no announcement that post-launch support as a whole is ending. The consistent cadence of patches and releases through May 2026 shows the team remains actively engaged with the game. No future content has been specifically announced, but neither has any conclusion to ongoing support.
