Rebellion GODSOUL: Awakening has been in Early Access since May 1, 2025, and the Steam Early Access flag remains active. U-Secret Studio has maintained a very high update cadence throughout — over 95 numbered patches in approximately 17 months — and is clearly in the middle of a substantial, multi-phase development effort. The most recent developer communication is Update #95, posted on October 2, 2026. In it, the producer, Xuwang Miao, confirms that four new main story chapters are in their later production stages, with a goal of releasing all four together by the end of 2026. A significant portion of the script is complete; the remaining work is focused on in-game direction, resource implementation, and testing. The post also confirms that the free Roguelike Mode has entered internal testing and is expected to ship around the same time as the year-end story update. Prior posts provide important context. The April 30, 2026 anniversary update detailed the story rebuild in depth: Chapters 1 and 2 are implemented, Chapter 3 is written, and Chapters 4–5 are being reconstructed into a new "Star Dream Chapter," with Chapter 6 text complete and under review. The August 3, 2026 Update #90 — which delivered an Unreal Engine 5.8 upgrade and new story content — reiterated that Roguelike Mode was in its final polishing stage. The developer has also disclosed that development is being funded at a financial loss and that limited team resources have slowed progress. However, there is no sign of the project being abandoned: the studio is actively communicating, shipping updates, and has a clear roadmap for imminent major content releases. No completion or wind-down statement has been made; rather, the developer has explicitly committed to completing the planned story chapters and Roguelike Mode.
