Refactor

Refactor launched on March 28, 2022 and received a solid run of post-launch updates from its solo developer, Backhand. Two named major content updates shipped in 2022: the 0.70 "Knight Return" update on September 20, 2022 (adding a new final boss and six new refactor turrets) and the 0.80 "Challenge Mode" update on November 30, 2022 (adding a new game mode and three new bosses). These were followed by a significant balance and systems overhaul in the 0.84 update on June 29, 2023, and then a series of smaller patches through September 21, 2023 (v0.89), which is the last recorded developer communication. No updates of any kind have been posted since September 21, 2023. The developer has not announced any upcoming content, roadmap, or future plans since the June 2023 patch — where they described their goals as ongoing balance improvements — and no unreleased DLC exists on the store. Given that the last communication was on September 21, 2023, and that the major content releases tapered off after late 2022 into maintenance and balance work, the game appears to have reached the end of its active development cycle as a complete, shipped product.
