Retirement Simulator entered Steam Early Access on April 20, 2022. In the first several months, DoubleThink Studio was actively communicating with players, releasing weekly to monthly patches and publishing a roadmap on April 21, 2022 that outlined significant planned additions. The roadmap and launch post committed to major unfinished content: a fully playable female protagonist route (with a separate main storyline, exclusive NPCs, activities, and gameplay systems), additional wish routes including a "Billionaire" path, a multi-ending system, and various other improvements.
Between April and November 2022, the studio shipped a series of updates — adding new characters, a Free Mode, gameplay systems, and bug fixes. However, the last developer post on record is from November 29, 2022. Since that date — now more than three and a half years ago — there have been no patch notes, announcements, or any other communication from the developer. The game remains in Early Access, and the promised female protagonist route and additional wish routes have never been confirmed as shipped.
This extended silence, combined with significant outstanding commitments that have not been addressed, raises serious concerns about whether development is continuing. Players considering this game should be aware that it may be effectively abandoned, and the content promised during Early Access has not been delivered.
