Return to Abyss launched on January 6, 2023 and received a solid run of post-launch content updates. A major update shipped on January 20, 2023 (new hero, weapon, map, follower system), followed by another on February 20, 2023 (new character, map, skins, balance changes), then a substantial Endless Mode update on April 30, 2023, and finally a "Summer Breath" update on August 16, 2023 (new heroes, accessories system, new DLC packs). All six DLC packs listed on the store have been released, with the last shipping on August 18, 2023. After the Summer Breath update, developer communications dropped off significantly — a bug fix posted on February 6, 2024 added free character skins and fixed several issues, and a final bug fix on February 22, 2024 addressed a handful of remaining issues. There have been no developer posts of any kind since February 22, 2024, and no new content, DLC, or roadmap has been announced. The four major content updates were concentrated between January and August 2023, establishing a cadence of roughly 2–4 months between releases. The last major content drop was in August 2023 — now well beyond any reasonable continuation of that pattern — and the last developer communication of any kind was on February 22, 2024. With all DLC released, no outstanding commitments, and over 16 months of silence since the last communication, the game appears to have concluded its content cycle.
