Evaluation

Robot Roller-Derby Disco Dodgeball launched in February 2015 and received a strong run of post-launch content through 2017, including major updates adding new maps, game modes, a missions and badges system, local multiplayer, and more. The last major content-focused update (Update 9.1, adding the Diamond level and two new modes) shipped on August 30, 2017. On September 13, 2026 — just two days before today's assessment — developer Erik Asmussen released a surprise "Version 10" update. This is described as "one of the biggest updates the game has ever seen," delivering significant technical overhauls: the multiplayer networking was rebuilt on Steam Networking, an instant replay system was added, bot AI was substantially improved, and various performance enhancements were made. Notably, this is a systems and infrastructure update rather than a content expansion — no new maps, modes, or gameplay content was announced. The post's tone ("It's been a minute") and its mention of the developer's other games suggest this was an unexpected one-off technical refresh rather than the start of a resumed content roadmap. The developer has not announced any further updates, new content, or a roadmap. The only DLC ever released (the soundtrack) shipped in May 2015, and there are no unreleased DLC entries on the store. The store description still includes a legacy line about being "regularly updated," but this language predates the current state of the project. The game's content lifecycle concluded with the August 30, 2017 major update; the September 2026 patch is a welcome technical improvement but does not indicate resumed content development.
Evidence
Surprise 'Version 10' update released, described as one of the biggest updates ever — but focused entirely on technical improvements: Steam Networking multiplayer overhaul, instant replay system, improved bot AI, and performance updates. No new maps, modes, or content announced. Developer notes it's been 'a minute' and links to his other games.
