Rugby 20 launched on January 23, 2020. Shortly after release, the developer posted a "Next Steps" update on January 29, 2020 outlining plans for post-launch patches — covering AI improvements, referee tuning, online multiplayer, and updated player/team data for the 2020 season. Those plans were carried out: a public test branch opened on February 5, 2020, Patch 1.4 shipped on February 11, 2020 with extensive AI and gameplay improvements, and Patch 1.5 shipped on March 5, 2020 with fully updated rosters and player stats for the 2019/2020 season. All of the post-launch goals the developer publicly committed to were fulfilled by March 5, 2020. There have been no developer communications since that date, no unreleased DLC on the store, and no announcements of further patches, expansions, or new content. The store description and short description describe the game as a complete package with no references to upcoming content. The game launched as a sports title with a defined season scope (2019/2020), and no new season edition or follow-up content has been announced. Development activity ended with the March 2020 patch.
