RUNNING WITH RIFLES

Running with Rifles released on April 2, 2015 and has received a steady stream of content ever since — three paid DLC expansions (PACIFIC in October 2017, EDELWEISS in December 2020, and the Veteran Pack in April 2022), plus a continuous cadence of seasonal events, free updates, and feature patches. The game remains very much in active support. Two pieces of future content have been formally announced. First, the EASTERN FRONT DLC has been listed on the Steam store as unreleased for some time. The four-person volunteer team developing it (who all hold full-time jobs outside game development) confirmed in February 2025 that the DLC is progressing — Soviet faction, over 40 new weapons, and 20+ vehicles are already implemented — but the level design workload remains the main obstacle and no release date has been given. A small taste of Eastern Front content was folded into the Halloween 2025 event, signalling that work is ongoing. However, given the extended history of delays and the part-time development model, the timeline for this DLC remains genuinely uncertain. Second, in March 2026 the studio announced a brand-new DLC codenamed RUNNING WITH RIFLES: EXTENDED, targeting Q3 2026. This will add a new campaign with two original factions — the Blueboots and the Whitefangs — along with new maps and full online Invasion support. This is distinct from Eastern Front and is being developed by the core Osumia Games team. The base game itself has continued to receive seasonal content updates, with a Summer Event shipping on June 19, 2025 and a Halloween Event on October 27, 2025, both adding new weapons, items, and gameplay mechanics. The developer also announced that RWR 2 is in development as a separate product, but the original game is clearly still receiving attention.
