Sail Forth launched on December 21, 2022 and received substantial post-launch support over the following years. The developer shipped three major content updates: The Fleet Update (March 17, 2023), the Maelstrom DLC alongside the Open Seas free update (January 2024), and the Before the Wind update (November 7, 2024), which also significantly expanded the Maelstrom DLC. A fourth major update, Battle for Croaker Command, arrived on January 16, 2026. In the January 16, 2026 post announcing the Battle for Croaker Command update, the developer — a solo developer named David — stated clearly: "I'll continue to bugfix and ensure the game is stable, but this is likely the last content update as it is time to work on new things." This is a direct statement that content development for Sail Forth has concluded, and it supersedes the earlier October 2025 patch note that mentioned an intent to create more content in the future. The most recent post from April 3, 2026 is a small bug-fix patch consistent with the promised ongoing maintenance, and does not indicate any new content. The one released DLC (Sail Forth: Maelstrom) has shipped, and no unreleased DLC is listed on the store.
