Sanator: Scarlet Scarf

Sanator: Scarlet Scarf is a visual novel that launched on June 6, 2019. Both DLC items (an extra content pack and the original soundtrack) were released on launch day. The game itself appears to be a complete, standalone experience, but the developer — Ignis Sanat — has repeatedly indicated that the story of protagonist Richard Murdock is not finished. In November 2021, the developer announced that a follow-up titled "Sanator: The Wedding" was still in development under new leadership, alongside a smaller interim project called "Sanator: St. Elmo's Legacy (The Taiga)." In July 2022, the developer acknowledged significant hardships but reaffirmed they were continuing work on the Sanator series and a separate project called WORMWOOD. Most recently, in October 2025, the developer posted an update saying "things haven't been going too well" but announced a new game called GABEN: Elevator Pitch Simulator. Importantly, they also promised to return to Richard's story in the future — keeping the Sanator continuation alive as a stated commitment. However, no concrete timeline, roadmap, or named release has been confirmed for the next Sanator chapter. The developer has faced ongoing difficulties, and the path forward for the Sanator continuation remains undefined. Someone interested in a follow-up to Scarlet Scarf should be aware that the developer has expressed intent to continue the story, but the delivery of that content is uncertain.
