Evaluation

Scamper launched on July 28, 2023 as a VR rat-themed adventure game and has been in continuous development ever since. The developer has shipped two major content updates post-launch: a full multiplayer mode on November 30, 2023, and "The Splitting Prism" on September 5, 2026 — a substantial expansion introducing an alternate timeline mechanic with two distinct frequency-based environments, each with procedural variation. Between those major updates, the developer also shipped a steady stream of feature patches adding difficulty options, revamped UI, spatial audio, and visual improvements. In August 2025, the developer explicitly described Scamper as "a constantly evolving Virtual Reality" and stated that v20.5 was "preparing the path to v21, where more environments arrive." The September 5, 2026 Splitting Prism update appears to be the v21 release that was referenced — the new environments described in both posts align closely. However, the developer's characterization of the game as "constantly evolving" and the long-standing pattern of regular updates suggest continued development beyond this release. The two major content updates span roughly 2.5 years (November 2023 to September 2026), but the developer has maintained consistent engagement with feature patches throughout. The most recent developer communication was on September 5, 2026, and no statement indicating the end of development has been made. The developer has not announced what comes next, but the historical pattern of ongoing updates and the "constantly evolving" framing support the expectation of further content.

About this game

The timeline tracks have split, but you can still scamper between them.

You can adjust the frequency of your energy to experience the different realities each timeline has to offer.

Explore environments resonant with either high or low frequency. The frequency is never exactly the same, causing each environment to shift and feel slightly different every time you enter.

🟢 High Frequency

Filled with tropical flora, fauna, water features, and underground caves waiting to be explored. Nature is alive, and the time of day is always changing.

🔴 Low Frequency

Descend into the darkness of a sewer system. Above it lies a cold city haunted by the echoes of civilization.

To scamper is to move quickly through fear or excitement. What will you choose?
