Second Front launched on January 31, 2023 and has been receiving consistent updates since then. The game's first major content drop arrived on January 18, 2024, adding the full Commonwealth Forces faction with dozens of new vehicles, 16 new scenarios, a new campaign, and desert terrain — content that had been announced in April 2023 and converted to a free update in December 2023.
That same December 2023 post published a detailed roadmap outlining a 1–2 year development plan covering features such as Berserk units, Tank Commanders, Mines, Night combat, Artillery, Planes, Partisans, a Pacific theatre with new factions (Japanese, US Marines), and eventually Multiplayer. In the period since, the developer has continued shipping feature patches: TNT mechanics (March 2025), improved broken unit behavior (April 2025), AI skulk behavior (June 2025), AI tactics and UI improvements (July 2025), and colored dice with a multiplayer button added as "under construction" (October 2025). The most recent communication was a bug fix patch on February 13, 2026.
The developer has not announced that development is complete. A number of roadmap items — including the Pacific theatre, Planes, Artillery, Prisoners/Interrogation, and Multiplayer — have not been confirmed as shipped. The April 2025 patch noted that the "Berserk" milestone was the next item due for completion, suggesting the developer was still actively working through the roadmap at that point. The October 2025 patch explicitly notes multiplayer is "under construction."
As of today, October 8, 2026, the last confirmed developer communication was February 13, 2026 — approximately 8 months ago. The historical pattern shows patches arriving roughly every 1–3 months from 2025 through early 2026. Eight months of silence is longer than the typical gap between updates, but the developer has not announced an end to development, and numerous roadmap items remain unconfirmed as delivered. The gap alone is not sufficient to override the unresolved roadmap commitments. However, if no further communications appear in the coming months, a reassessment toward uncertainty would be warranted.
