Evaluation

Sentience entered Steam Early Access on March 25, 2021, as a free-to-play online multiplayer game by the small indie studio Red Meat Games. In its first year, the team shipped several patches and feature updates, including Team Play support (June 2021), language support, AI bots for multiplayer, and cross-play groundwork (January 2022). The game also has an in-game shop with cosmetics and consumables. However, activity dropped sharply after January 2022. The only post in 2023 was a developer livestream announcement on July 26, 2023 — which was a community engagement event, not a content release. There have been no developer posts of any kind since that date. As of June 2026, that represents nearly three years of silence. The game remains in Early Access with no stated roadmap, no announced 1.0 release date, and no communication about future plans. Red Meat Games has not announced that development has ended, but they have also not shown any signs of continued active work. Given the prolonged silence from a small indie studio that had previously been communicating regularly, it is unclear whether development is still ongoing.
