Evaluation

Seraph's Last Stand launched on Steam on March 23, 2022 as a $0.99 roguelike shoot 'em up by solo developer André. The developer was transparent from the beginning about the game's scope: in a March 28, 2022 post, André stated that the plan was to add ascensions for every card, a few more cards, hats, and staffs — and then that would be it, because the codebase wasn't designed for ongoing expansion. The game received a handful of updates in its first few months: a major content patch on March 28, 2022 adding new staffs, hats, and ascensions; a patch on April 22, 2022 bringing ascensions to all remaining items and signaling the game was "getting really close to being complete"; a feature patch on July 25, 2022 adding controller support; and a minor bug fix on August 1, 2022. In the July 2022 controller support post, André was candid about the game's future, explicitly writing: "I don't really know if I'm adding new content to the game, but it may happen." He explained that the revenue at the time didn't justify a larger investment, and that the game was a small study project rather than a planned live service. The most recent developer activity was a February 4, 2023 post announcing the Nintendo Switch release — a port of the complete game. There have been no posts, patches, or announcements from the developer since that date, now over three years ago. The developer's own statements consistently framed this as a small, self-contained project with a defined endpoint, and the update history reflects exactly that: a short burst of polish updates in 2022 followed by a platform port and then silence. The only DLC is a soundtrack pack released May 5, 2022. No future content has been announced or hinted at since.
Evidence
Developer explicitly stated 'I don't really know if I'm adding new content to the game, but it may happen,' citing insufficient revenue to justify further investment. Described the game as a small study project rather than a passion project or live service.
