Silent Descent launched on February 6, 2018. On that same day, the developer published a post explicitly titled "Game Released and Final Update 1.04," stating: "Today marks a good day; we have finally made it to the end of the development of the game." The developer indicated they would continue to provide bug fix support if issues were reported, but made clear that content development was finished. A minor bug fix patch (1.04) followed on February 7, 2018, consistent with the promised post-launch maintenance support. No further content has been announced or released since then, and no DLC exists. The game launched as a complete, finished product.

Preface

"In 2009, a man named Samuel Harris was arrested for the death of his wife Maria. Police found the man huddled over her corpse whimpering strange inaudible words. Police records show that there was no sign of a break-in, and no further evidence was found of a third party. An open and shut case. Later that year while awaiting his trial, Samuel hung himself in his cell. Some cheered, for in their minds he was a monster, destined for Hell. Others say, due to his suicide, he will be forever tormenting in the space between Heaven and Hell; Purgatory. Either way, God have mercy on his soul!" - Father James Francis.
