Source of Madness

Source of Madness launched into full 1.0 release on May 11, 2022, after spending time in Early Access. At launch, the developer stated their post-launch plan was to create "a new post-launch patch with more specialized monsters and new difficulty stages." The developer followed through on that plan. After launch, two major content updates shipped: the "Insanity" patch on June 20, 2022 (adding new difficulty modes and monster classes), and the Multiplayer update on September 1, 2022 (adding a full local/online versus mode with 5 maps). A substantial feature patch followed in February 2023, adding new spells, items, and gameplay systems. The most recent substantive update to Source of Madness was a feature patch released on May 29, 2024, which included a melee combat overhaul and various fixes. Since that date — over 13 months ago as of June 2026 — there have been no further patches, announcements, or developer communications about the game itself. The only post since then (March 18, 2025) was a bundle promotion for a different game (Reignbreaker) that offered discounts to Source of Madness owners, but contained no new content or development news for Source of Madness. Notably, the developer has been publicly shifting focus to a new project called Midnight Horde, which was announced in February 2023 and has received increasing attention in developer posts. The developer has not made any explicit statement about Source of Madness being complete, but the absence of any game updates or communications since May 29, 2024, combined with the developer's visible pivot to a new title, is consistent with the game having reached the end of its update lifecycle. Only a soundtrack DLC exists, which was released on launch day. There are no unreleased DLC entries and no outstanding commitments on record.
