Spanky! entered Early Access on April 29, 2024, developed by a self-described two-person team at HappyHead Games. Before and around launch, the developer was clear that the Early Access release was a starting point: a pre-launch announcement on April 26, 2024 stated "there is so much more content now, with more to come in future patches," and earlier communications described plans to expand from 3 demo modes to 9+ modes along with new maps, cosmetics, and quality-of-life improvements.
The game launched with a hotfix post on May 4, 2024 that added a server browser and addressed several bugs — the last official communication from the developer on record. Since May 4, 2024, there have been no further news posts, patch notes, or announcements of any kind. This silence now spans more than two years.
The game remains in Early Access with content additions explicitly promised and no developer statement indicating those plans have been fulfilled or abandoned. The combination of outstanding commitments and extended developer silence makes the current development status unclear.
