Spellbook Demonslayers

Spellbook Demonslayers entered Steam Early Access on November 2, 2022 and has been actively developed by a solo developer (Xendra) since then. The game has received several major content updates during Early Access: a large December 2022 update adding the dash mechanic and new enemy systems, the Oblivion Update in July 2023 introducing demon summoning, a new spellbook, and extensive new systems, and a second character update in late 2023. Throughout 2024, the developer began work on a sweeping overhaul called the "Apocalypse Update," which reworks nearly every core system in the game — spells, weapons, combat mechanics, UI, and more. A separate demo for this update was released on September 2, 2024, and the main game's store page continues to advertise it as "coming soon." On January 1, 2026, the developer posted an update confirming work was still ongoing, describing refined mechanics and plans to consult with a collaborator, and indicating a new demo update would arrive within "this month or next." That deadline has passed without a follow-up post, and no communication has been made since January 1, 2026. The developer has been open about personal challenges causing delays throughout development — including a family health crisis in early 2023, housing issues in early 2024, and the birth of a child referenced in the January 2026 post. Development is ongoing but the timeline for the Apocalypse Update reaching the main game remains uncertain.
