Evaluation

SpellForce 3 originally launched on December 7, 2017 and has received a substantial post-launch content history. Two standalone expansions were released: Soul Harvest on May 28, 2019, and Fallen God on June 6 (announced) / late 2020 (released as a standalone product). On December 6, 2021, Grimlore Games released SpellForce 3 Reforced — a major overhaul update that added new game modes (Journey Mode and Arena Mode), a new skirmish map, improved campaign mechanics, full gamepad support, and numerous balance and quality-of-life improvements. This was framed as the team's definitive "Thank You" to the community. Since the Reforced update on December 6, 2021, there have been no further major content releases for this game. The only post-2021 news item in the developer's feed is a February 3, 2023 announcement for SpellForce: Conquest of Eo — a separate, distinct game in the franchise, not additional content for SpellForce 3 Reforced. The DLC list contains only two items, both released at or near launch (Digital Extras in December 2017 and the Mod Kit in February 2018), with no unreleased content listed. The developer has not announced any future content for SpellForce 3 Reforced, and the update pattern — three major content milestones spread across 2019, 2020, and 2021 — has now been silent for over four years (since December 6, 2021). The Reforced update reads as a capstone release, and no subsequent communication suggests otherwise. The game appears to be content-complete as of the Reforced update.
Evidence
SpellForce 3 Reforced launched, adding two new game modes (Journey and Arena), a new skirmish map, full gamepad support, and sweeping campaign improvements. The developer framed this as their way of saying 'Thank You' for player support — language consistent with a concluding content release.

About this game

SpellForce 3 - The perfect blend between RTS and RPG!

It is the year 518. The rebellion of the renegade mages, known as the Mage Wars, has been quashed by the Crown. However, it was a Pyrrhic victory: Whole regions have fallen into anarchy, refugees roam the lands in search of shelter, and a mysterious, deadly plague called the “Bloodburn” has arisen and is spreading rapidly.

In times like these people cling to any sign of hope they can find. The Purity of Light, led by a charismatic man called Rondar Lacaine, claims that mages are the source of all misfortune – and that only the second coming of Aonir, the father of all gods, will return Eo to its former splendor.

The story takes place before the acclaimed SpellForce: The Order of Dawn.

Features:

  • Innovative Mix: Unique gameplay blending RTS and RPG naturally together
  • Create & Customize: Create your own hero and choose between distinct skill trees
  • Build to Fight: Raise your own army and fight epic mass battles

  • Choose your side: Strengthen and command one of three factions – Elves, Orcs and Humans. Prepare your troops and fight the mother of all battles. Play strategically, taking advantage of terrain, troop formations, visibility, scouting, etc.
  • Experience an epic tale: Enjoy a fully-voiced 30+ hour campaign on your own or with friends in the campaign coop mode. Face opponents of all skills in the online battles.
  • Multiplayer: Strong multiplayer component with various modes - Compete against each other in the PvP and Domination mode or play cooperative either together on one faction or classic where everybody plays a faction.
