Evaluation

Spider Land is a free-to-play visual novel that launched on April 14, 2025 as a complete, self-contained narrative experience. On March 5, 2026, the developer shipped Version 1.1, which added controller/Steam Deck support, accessibility improvements, and polished existing scenes — quality-of-life work on the existing content rather than new content. On July 19, 2026, the developer published a direct statement confirming that Spider Land's development is finished: "I won't be updating Spider Land ever again (fingers crossed)... I'm saying never." The developer used the post to announce their next game, Calamity Cait, and to thank players — a clear farewell to Spider Land. This is an explicit, unambiguous statement that no further updates are coming.
Evidence
Developer explicitly states they will not be updating Spider Land ever again, calling it a final farewell and directing players to their next game, Calamity Cait.

About this game

A nuclear war was the best thing that ever happened to me.

In the aftermath of total annihilation, one man blossoms, finally set free from the shackles of morality. Spider Land is a visual novel about that man. Once a doomsday prepper, now a scavenger. Life is simple. Eat, sleep, maybe kill if it comes to that, repeat.

During the day, you spend your time communicating with a disparate network of survivors. Nobody can see your face through the computer, and that's just how you like it.

Come nightfall, you emerge, ready to make the most of what little this world has to offer.

Choose from a myriad of landmarks to survey, all housing unique characters and dangers aplenty. Make decisions that will have far reaching implications. Maintain your grip on reality by any means necessary. Then, when the sun comes up, return to your bunker and sleep the events of the night off.

Just give a me a reason. All I need is a reason.
