Evaluation
Splody launched on March 21, 2017 as a complete multiplayer game in the Bomberman tradition. After launch, the developer shipped a series of feature updates through 2017 and 2018 — adding new powerups, platform ports (Mac/Linux), cross-platform play with a PS4 version, and various gameplay options. Following that wave of post-launch improvements, the developer's attention shifted elsewhere: a developer statement from August 26, 2025 (NEWS-3) openly acknowledges being "quiet on the Steam front in recent years," explaining that the solo developer had been working on a separate web game that has since been shut down. The most recent updates (January 2026) are Steam Deck UI polish fixes, not new gameplay content. No new gameplay features, modes, or expansions have been announced. The developer's August 2025 note mentions returning focus to Steam releases and highlights a different new game (QuantumPulse 2A) — not a Splody expansion or update roadmap. There is no DLC, no announced future content, and no sustained post-launch content cadence beyond the initial burst of feature work in 2017–2018. The game shipped as a complete product and its post-launch updates have been maintenance and platform compatibility work. No further content is expected.
Evidence
Developer acknowledges being quiet on Steam for several years due to work on a separate web game, which has since been shut down. Mentions returning focus to Steam but highlights a different new game (QuantumPulse 2A), not new Splody content.
Update 7 added cross-platform play with the PS4 version and various gameplay options. Represents the last substantive feature update to the game's core content.
